The Emileen Trust is a micro-trust of Givingworks - Charity number:1078770

Who We Are

We are Caroline, Rachael, Madeline and Ethan, and together we are the founders of The Emileen Trust. \The trust was formed in memory of Emily Elizabeth Middleton, our much loved Grandma and Great Grandma, and her Daughter Maureen Elizabeth Cornforth (nee Middleton), our beloved Mam and Nanna.

Why did we set up this trust?

Our Mam and Nanna Maureen Elizabeth Cornforth (nee Middleton) was, devastatingly, diagnosed with Glioblastoma in July 2023 at the age of 76 while still incredibly active. She was the heart and humour of our family.

She was in life a beautiful and kind soul who always listened without judgement and helped others selflessly without the need of gratitude. We wanted to honour her legacy and memory by helping others in a similar situation.

What do we do?

We support those who are affected by Glioblastoma in the counties of Cleveland and County Durham with small grants of up to £250.00 to contribute to expenses that cannot be met by statutory services such as social care or the NHS.

What can we fund?

All money in the trust has been fundraised by the family and friends of Maureen and Emily. Sadly we do not have the resources to fund everything that may be needed but we can help to fund those expenses that come as a surprise when living with or supporting someone with Glioblastoma.

Examples are;

  •  Hospital car parking.
  •  Petrol for trips to hospital.
  •  Comfortable clothing, pyjamas or similar.
  •  Things that will make a person comfortable, whilst in treatment and help them smile. This could be a record player to sing  along to, special pillows or bedding, a magazine subscription or anything in between.

What we can't fund

We are unable to give grants for things which can be provided via statutory services such as adaptation and aids provided by       occupational therapists. We do however, as a family, have experience in obtaining these things as we have backgrounds in Nursing and Social Care services, as such if you contact us we are happy to try and support you obtain these requirements.

We are unable to fund anything over £250.00.
